Hello and welcome to soccerportugal.com. This website is devoted primarily to Portuguese football (soccer), in many guises, going back as far as the 1960s.

I grew up in Portugal and have been an ardent supporter of the Portugal national side since I was 10 years old in 1994. It hasn't always been easy - I remember days when we didn't qualify for major tournaments, missing out on the World Cup in 1994 and 1998. Since 2000 the men's senior team has qualified for every major tournament from Euro 2000 through to World Cup 2022. Nonetheless I wondered whether I would ever see Portugal win a major tournament - this happened in Euro 2016 where we beat France in the Final.
Along the way I witnessed us reach the Semi-Final stage in Euro 2000, World Cup 2006, and Euro 2012; as well as the Final of Euro 2004, which was hosted in Portugal. This was good and bad for me; good because it was great to see Portugal take its place among the elite of world soccer, bad because it can be painful to come so close and fall short...
Aside from Euro 2016, Portugal also won the inaugaral Nations League in 2019. Apart from the national team's success, I also wasn't expecting that a player of the calibre of Cristiano Ronaldo would have emerged; this has also been fantastic to witness!
It has also been interesting watching the major club teams that Portuguese have played for. In the 90s Italian club teams were home to many of Portugal's elite, such as Rui Costa, Paulo Sousa and Fernando Couto. More recently in the 2020s, the likes of Diogo Jota, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Ronaldo have featured for top English club teams. In between, probably Spain was the nation of choice for Portuguese players.
José Mourinho's success hasn't passed me by without notice either. As of 2022, he has won the UEFA Cup (with FC Porto in 2003), the Champions League twice (with Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010), the Europa League (with Manchester United in 2017), and the Europa Conference League (with AS Roma in 2022). In my opinion, this comfortably places him as one of the greatest Club Team managers of all time.
Currently the website features pages about all of the major international soccer tournaments Portugal has taken part in, from the glory days of Eusébio and co in the 1966 World Cup right through to winning both the 2016 European Cup and the 2019 Nations League.
The site now also includes pages on Portuguese club football teams, with an emphasis on European "Conquistas".
